Ernie came to rescue as a stray not in the best condition but has recovered from his heartworm treatmemt and regained his health nicely.  He is estimated to be about 8 years old and has some arthritis.  He does not let this stop him from climbing onto the bed although it is difficult for him.  He gets glucosamine treats to help him cope and may need an occasional pain reliever such as Deramaxx.  He may also need an occasional antihistamine during allergy season.

Ernie weighs in at over 130 pounds and is one giant love-sponge.  He warms up quickly to both men and loves scritches and tummy rubs.  Ernie is very laid back and easy going -- gets along well with dogs both small and large, isn't worried by cats and thoroughly charmed the entire staff at the vet clinic.  He  would probably do fine with well behaved children but he has not been around any here.

Ernie has good leash manners, knows sit and down and comes when he is called.  He would do best in a home with few steps and lots of loving attention.
