Characteristics: Notes from evaluator/shelter caretaker for Bandit: Bandit came into shelter as an owner surrender. In a nutshell he was purchased as a puppy and all of his big boy behaviors were really cute until he actually became a bad boy and then his people didn’t know what to do. They were legitimately scared of him and essentially allowed all these behaviors to develop and I am sure unconsciously rewarded him for some of them.
I have absolutely no issues whatsoever with handling Bandit. He will growl and snarl with people that he doesn’t know who try to approach him; however I was able to get him comfortable with me within just a couple hours. Once he
respects you he’s very sweet and playful. Bandit knows sit, stay down, and shake.
I personally think he’s just a Rottweiler in need of a little bit of basic manners training. He still growls at people that he doesn’t know, and as soon as he realizes he has been able to make them uncomfortable he puts on quite a very good show of being a very bad boy. He is not! Bandit is really an awesome dog but just needs a competent rottie-savvy owner who will teach him to be a good citizen rather than an errant teenager
