BIO: Adventures with Ohana as she prepares for her forever home!
Ohana will be a year old in November. She will be spayed and up to date on all vetting prior to adoption. Ohana LOVES water and knows sit, down, kennel, give five, and is learning to walk nicely on leash. Ohana is good with other dogs and cats with proper introduction and also is good with kids. She has been introduced to horses and was pretty reactive to them, although this could be corrected with training over time.
Ohana is very silly, sweet, and still very much a puppy. She is working hard on her basic obedience and manners. She does tend to want to jump, but ever day she gets better about that. She enjoys training and is food motivated. She can be a tad stubborn- if she would rather not go in her kennel, she will collapse on the ground and act as if she’s sleeping.
Ohana has shown some leash and barrier reactivity. She is not great at introducing herself to dogs that she can’t walk right up to and sniff, so if you hold her back with the lead, she will bark and sometimes snarl. She will do this also if another dog approaches her kennel or if she sees another dog while she’s in the car. This is not a good indication of her behavior with other dogs because she’s actually very friendly, playful, and really good even with dogs who are grouchy to her. She just seems to think she must protect her “space”. She will do this sometimes with people too, although not nearly as much. It is an issue we are working on and she has made some improvement with, but it is in her nature to be protective. Off leash, she is awesome.
Ohana will be looking for a forever family who will continue her training and take her to classes, continue her socialization, and has plenty of time to play with her and keep her busy. She is adorable and sweet, and her antics will keep you smiling for a lifetime!
