Characteristics: Bo is being rehomed as the owners just don’t have enough time to devote to him. Bo is very smart. He picked up basic commands (sit, lay, shake) very quickly at 3 months old. He is house and crate trained. He loves to play fetch, although sometimes he does not bring the ball back. He is good with kids, other dogs, and other people. He is good with cats – he thinks they are playmates. Though he is never rough or attacking them, when he gets playful his size is intimidating to them. He is not good with chickens or wild animals, such as rabbits. If he sees rabbits, he will pursue them. We live in the country on acreage so he loves to go for runs alongside us on the ATVs. He also loves belly rubs and thinks he is a lap dog. Bo does resource guard his toys but if he’s told to “drop it” or “leave it” he will. In a car, he acts unsettled, like he gets motion sickness.
Notes from evaluator: Bo is a very good dog who is energetic and playful. He is still very much a puppy but has the potential to be a GREAT companion for someone! He just needs the right owner who will have time to work with him. Bo was super friendly and I was able to pet him like he was my own rot. He does pull on a leash so will need some leash training. I think he will do well with a family (maybe not small kids until he has more training due to his energy and his jumping). It is playful and not aggressive but could easily knock down a small child. A farm may not be the right fit due to his high prey drive.
