Characteristics: Chicken was rescued from a shelter in KS along with 2 other rotties who were neglect/abuse cases. Chicken has definite separation anxiety and does not like to be in the kennel or pen. Very smart takes to commands and easily redirected! He wants to be with his owner 24/7 and doesn’t want separation! Loves playing rough with a smaller pup. Chicken needs socialization with other humans and learning to trust his surroundings! Very jumpy.. fears abuse from his previous situation. Chicken is a very sweet dog who needs help working through his separation anxiety! Notes from evaluator: Chicken growled upon first meeting but soon he started relaxing and warming up. When I offered treats, he immediately licked my hand before taking the treat. Because of his abusive & neglectful past, he has trust issues he must overcome. He also loves his furry friend, a younger, medium sized dog who loves to romp & play with him. It would be best if he has a medium to large furry buddy as it helps with his anxiety. I don’t think small dogs or cats would be a good idea. Although not tested with cats, he has killed small wildlife. . I think he would love a family–especially one with older kids (10-12 & older). He observed kids playing in the park & seemed as if he would like to join them. He does like playing with Tammy’s 13-year old grandson. This is a dog who will need someone who is alert and willing to get to know his mannerisms–can’t just let him off leash or put him with another animal without proper introductions. They will need to earn his trust. . I whole-heartedly recommend this dog. He would be best placed with a confident & patient individual who will spend time helping to socialize him & work on his separation anxiety (he will destroy a wire kennel if he is left in it while the owner is gone).
