Characteristics: This is June! She is precious and for the most part a friendly giant. She does pretty well with our toddlers, if she gets uncomfortable she runs away from them. She can sit, lay down, stay, and recall. She recalls when
off leash but she mostly walks right beside you. She sits and has a true love for food. She even guards it sometimes. A toddler has been in the food bowl and she’s never had a problem with her. I don’t think she would ever intentionally bite a human. She will growl at other dogs if they try to sneak a bite though. She’s a true companion and will sleep outside of our door until we get up. Sometimes if she’s lucky she gets in the bed with us. She doesn’t have accidents in the house and she is a good inside/outside dog. She
spends most of her days outside and she comes in at night time. She has a lot of love for humans and her lil nub gets going when you give her the scratches and even a purr comes out. She would lay beside you all day if she had the chance. She does get up on the furniture when invited but stays off for the most part. She’s been on a free feeding system for the last 5 years with two other dogs and occasionally more dogs and there has been no fighting. We also have family dogs come to the house often and they don’t
fight. She loves to fetch and loves the toys we get from bark box.
Recently she got into two fights with one of our other dogs and that’s the reason we want to find her another home. We have no idea what caused it after they have been together this long. We are afraid it might happen again near our toddler. If we didn’t have kiddos we would keep June and try to work through this with her as she is a wonderful dog and we truly love her.
As far as we know she is about 9 years old but she does not act her age. She is still active and has the heart of a puppy. She was a rescue back in 2018 and the limited info we had put her at 4 years old at the time. June has been a great dog for us for 5 years.

Notes from Evaluator: June seems like a great dog. She loves attention and would be great in a home with lower activity levels. She still has tons of life left in her and would make a great additional to someone who has love to give! She loves being pet and immediately did the Rottie-lean on me. She enjoys attention, but also just lounging outside in the sun. She definitely exhibits resource guarding when near the food with other dogs present. I did not observe her growl at the other dogs, but she placed her head in the food container and didn’t move while the other dogs were near her. She showed general interest in the other family dogs when outside, but didn’t seem super eager to play, likely due to her age. While on the leash, June did not pull at all and constantly looked to me for my positioning. _In talking with the owner, it seems to me that a number of factors have contributed to the fights June has gotten in recently. The family currently has 4 dogs (including June) and has two other dogs in their home while the owners’ parents stay with them. One of the dogs is under one and was added to the family 6 months ago. The owners have two children with a third on the way. They also just completed a move from Colorado. It seems like the amount of change and activity in the home, coupled with dog’s age, may be factors leading to a change in behavior. However, June was great while I visited with her and would be a great addition to a loving family while she lives out the rest of her days.
