Bio: Hi! I’m Lucy! I’m 5 years old and a very low maintenance, low energy dog that loves to lay on the couch with my feet in the air waiting for a belly rub. I tend to not want other dogs to play with the toys I have, so I would do best in a home without other dogs or small kids. It’s not that I can’t be around dogs, I went to doggy day care for awhile and I did great! I even sleep in the same bed as my beagle sister. I just get territorial of my toys sometimes. My mom calls me her “guardian angel,” I guess that means I’m a good guard dog. I bark when someone comes to the door, but I can tell quickly if they are a friend or not. If its someone my family seems to know well, I give them my butt for scratches and lean into them. If I sense they are a stranger, I’m a little more leery and want to make sure everyone is safe. I really love walks and car rides to get McDonald’s ice cream. I get so excited when we go through a drive thru! But I’m a very good girl, I know how to SIT and WAIT for my food and I take treats very gently. I know SIT, BACK, WAIT, DOWN, and SHAKE. And if anyone says the word “walk” within 10 feet of me I race to the door. I may seem excited, but I’m pretty lazy and will start walking behind you if we walk for more than 15 minutes. I was crate trained as a pup, but I haven’t need to go in there in a very long time. I have a dog sister that likes to surf counters but I have never done that or destroy anything that isn’t mine.
I had some injuries when I was younger, I tore one ACL and the doctor said the other one would tear too. So my parents did the best surgeries available and I’m all good to go, I can tear around the yard like nobody’s business. They give me yummy treats at dinnertime just to make sure my joints stay healthy and I don’t get bad arthritis when I’m older.
I really am a very good girl, I love to sit in your lap and sprawl out on the couch and nap all day. I have no problems with any humans and my toys, my mom reaches inside my mouth to pull out socks and other bones (I do love socks, I never destroy them, just carry them around). I just don’t like when other dogs try to take my stuff. Like I said before, I get nervous around strange people, not aggressive, but I do back away if they try to pet me and I don’t know them. As a precaution, my parents trained me to wear a muzzle just in case I get too nervous and that makes everyone feel better. My parents love me very much and are trying to find me the best home possible, is that you?
