Characteristics: Matilda is one of 11 dogs living on a semi-rural property in Kingman County. Owner was lawfully detained about 2 weeks ago and has surrendered all dogs to the city as she will not be returning to her residence. All of the dogs are friendly. The male dogs are all neutered and they all live in the back yard. Our shelter only houses 20 dogs and is completely full. We have been maintaining all of the animals at the residence, with the owners permission but obviously this is only a temporary solution. KCHS is willing to update all the vaccinations and , if needed, we can try to transport as well.
Notes from evaluator: Matilda is very friendly and loves pets and scratches. She takes treats gently and is food motivated so likely can learn commands very easily (doesn’t know any currently). Matilda does pull on a leash but is just curious and can be redirected. She will listen and is mostly calm, playful and treat motivated. I think Matilda will thrive in a home with other dogs to play with. She would probably do ok with children. She needs regular exercise but would also be a good cuddle buddy! Matilda did not exhibit any fearful behavior nor display any over-confidence. She seems very trainable and eager to please! Such a sweet girl!
