Prince is a 5 year old male Rottweiler in a puppy body! He came to Almost Home as a stray in the middle of December 2020. He is about 66 lbs and has a docked tail with standard Rottweiler coloration and fur. Since he came in, Prince has been friendly to strangers, but can be timid with a leash. It is clear that Prince has had no formal puppy training. He does jump up on people, and occasionally attempts to hump when trying to play. At 5 years old, he behaves very much like a young puppy. Outdoors, he will sit for treats and is very food and treat motivated. Indoors is very similar, however, he is more excitable and it is much more difficult to get him to focus. When walking pass other dogs indoor, Prince pays no attention to them. In our outdoor fenced-in area, Prince is more excited to sniff around and explore. He will greet new people eagerly, but can also become distracted by outdoor stimuli and ignore new people. We have not tested Prince with cats. Based on behavior and personality, we feel Prince would do best in a home without cats. He appears to have a higher prey drive. Prince will need a home where he can learn basic manners not to jump and how to walk on a leash. Prince shows no aggressive tendencies except he does resource guard his food.
