BIO: Roxy came to MARR over-bred with a flea and heart worm infestation. Having lived most of her life outside, she has been learning proper house manners and socialization. She has made great progress the past few months in foster care and also now has a clean bill of health. The first couple of weeks at her fosters house, she was very unsettled and scared. Over time, and with lots of love, she learned to trust. Roxy can still be timid around new people and new environments, but once you’ve built that bond with her, she will look to you for guidance.

When Roxy is picking her dog friends, she can be a bit selective. Roxy’s foster family includes a large male dog and a small female dog and Roxy seems to get along with the small female better. How Roxy reacts to a dog seems to depend on how they react to her. If she feels threatened, she stands her ground. If the dog is dismissive toward her, she is more relaxed. Sometimes her body language can be hard to read. With slow and proper introductions and the right mix of personalities, Roxy could do well with another dog even though she would prefer to be the center of your universe!

Roxy’s personality traits are:
– she LOVES to cuddle, it’s her #1 favorite thing
– with consistency, she learns and listens well
– she startles at loud noises or raised voices
– she doesn’t care to play with toys usually but loves to play with you or chew on bones
– does not bark much

Roxy still has a fair amount of energy for a 7 year old. Daily walks would be good for her and she does well on a leash (when she starts to feel overwhelmed she may need some convincing but she always gets there!). Her ideal adopter would be someone who is patient with her. She is a soft soul who requires time to adapt and understand. All Roxy wants is to feel safe and be loved in her forever home.
