Characteristics: Scout is a very sweet and gentle dog. He does not jump on people but instead seems to hug us when he is happy to see us. He is quite active and would do better in a home with a yard and a family that can take him for walks or exercise in some fashion. He is very intelligent and learns commands well. He has great recall. However, he loves food and is stubborn about begging for food we are eating when we tell him no. He has a large appetite! He loves attention and cuddling but he does not usually sleep on the bed and his happy sleeping on his dog bed in our room. He is not kennel trained at night, he has always been in our room with us but he is okay in kennel when we leave the house. He is good with our dogs and other dogs he has met. He is also good with cats but one of our cats is quite playful with him and he does chase her when they are playing. He is wary of some strangers that come into our home but I have noticed it is generally men when they are wearing a ball cap. When they remove the hat and greet him he is more at ease. Scout is a wonderful boy and is so sweet and loving. We are devastated that we are not able to keep him. We are renting our home and in our lease it states we are allowed to have pets. We have three dogs total

(two who are much older) and our landlord will not allow us to keep one of the dogs. We are heartbroken to rehome him, he is a wonderful dog and a best friend to our toddler but we do not have another option as we cannot move right now. He is very friendly at our vet office although a bit overly excited. He is calm while being examined.
